    Administration for Children and Families
    The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is responsible for federal programs that promote the economic and social well-being of families, children, individuals, and communities. ACF's site contains recent news, a news archive, facts sheets of relevant issues, and statistics. Links are also provided to all of ACF's programs or offices, including the Children's Bureau, Head Start Bureau, and Family and Youth Services Bureau.

    American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP)
    The mission of the AACAP website is to assist parents and families in understanding the developmental, behavioral, emotional and mental disorders affecting children and adolescents. The site provides an extensive list of publications by the AACAP dealing with related issues, tracks legislation, and provides research links.

    Since 1948, the Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) has worked to build better futures for disadvantaged children and their families in the United States.     Community Solutions Social Indicators Reports: Children and Families
    The Social Indicators Reports provide descriptive information about people, their characteristics and circumstances. Researchers explain the study is relevant to an issue which can be affected by social policy, supplying information that is measurable, has the same meaning over time, utilizes consistent methods of data collection and has readily agreeable meaning. The Social Indicators Reports provide information on the geographic level of social planning areas (neighborhoods) in the city of Cleveland and all the suburban communities in Cuyahoga County.

    Cuyahoga County Health and Human Services Department of Children and Family Services
    The purpose of the Department of Children and Family Services is to assure that children at risk of abuse or neglect are protected and nurtured within a family and with the support of the community.     The Family Child Learning Center
    The Family Child Learning Center, sponsored by Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron in conjunction with Kent State University, is a research and training program located in Tallmadge, Ohio that is committed to developing, evaluating and disseminating innovative services for young children with developmental disabilities and their families. FCLC is dedicated to working cooperatively with local, state, and federal programs to improve the quality of health, education and related services provided for infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities.

    Families and Work Institute
    The Families and Work Institute is a non-profit organization that addresses the changing nature of work and family life. The Institute is committed to finding research-based strategies that foster mutually supportive connections among workplaces, families, and communities. The Institute's site contains research, publications, community mobilization forums and current news. The site also contains information on The Fatherhood Project®, a national research and education project that is examining the future of fatherhood and developing ways to support men's involvement in child rearing.

    National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHHD)
    NICHHD's mission is that every individual is born healthy and wanted, that women suffer no adverse consequence from the reproductive process, and that all children have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for a healthy and productive life unhampered by disease or disability. Their web site contains news, statistics, research resources, and health prevention information.

    Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS)
    The site of this state department provides services to Ohio's workforce and Ohio families. Information on ODJFS programs including adoption/kinship/foster care, child care, child support, protective services, financial assistance, health care, food stamps, and links to other sites for information on food banks, clothing, shelter and transportation, and information on child care and Medicaid providers. The site also provides a Info Center with forms, reports and publications as well as legal and policy information.

    Office of the Surgeon General
    David Satcher, who earned his M.D. and Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University, is the current U.S. Surgeon General. Dr. Satcher has included Children's Mental Health as a central agenda item. His web site contains a full text of his report on children's mental health.

    Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation
    The Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) is the principal advisor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on policy development, and is responsible for major activities in the areas of policy coordination, legislation development, strategic planning, policy research and evaluation, and economic analysis. For Human Services Policy Issues, including Children & Youth, Family Formation and HHS Fatherhood Initiative, the site lists the office's current research projects, reports, connected web sites, and discussion group information.

    Substance Abuse and Mental Health Serves Administration (SAMHSA)
    SAMHSA is the Federal agency charged with improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitative services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses. Their web site contains statistics, a list of SAMHSA's programs, newsletters, and a clearinghouse linking to other well respected sites with relevant information.
