Goal: Support full lives with dignity for seniors.
We believe that systemic change is required to bring about coordination among service providers so that older people will be able to access and use the services they need to maintain their quality of life. As we consider the aging of the population and especially the continuing increase in the 85+ age cohort, we see added stress on the service delivery system. Changes must be made today to prepare for the future, which starts tomorrow. A key to seniors succeeding in all aspects of life is to create a community-based, sustained network for older people. Most older adults prefer to remain in their own homes. Almost one-quarter of Cuyahoga County's older population (65+) has at least a moderate disability. The cost of home care is much lower than institutional care. We feel it is imperative to create and make available a seamless service delivery system that is flexible enough to assess individual needs.
Each investment committee is composed of clusters of programs, and so is the Senior Success Investment Committee. The two clusters that compose the Senior Success Committee are Senior Centers and the Basic Subsistence/Supportive Services Clusters. Each cluster focuses on programs administered by different United Way partner agencies, each with different missions.
