Official Logo Chosen for Schools Campaign
Poster designed by 4th grader Carrie Vichill of Olmsted Township and a student at St. Mary's School in Berea
For ten years, United Way of Greater Cleveland has relied on the artistic talent of 8-10 year olds to create the official logo of the annual United Way Schools Campaign. The annual poster contest is conducted among third and fourth grade students at private, public and parochial schools in the Greater Cleveland area.
Teaching High School Students About Philanthropy
Students Allocate $44,500 through the Mott Youth Fund Distribution Committee
The society in which we live values individuality, yet sometimes we are asked to act collectively. Decision making in philanthropy combines both the best of working collaboratively and thinking independently. This is the lesson learned by high school students who participated in the John K. Mott Youth Fund Distribution Committee, which has just finished its work by making grant allocations for programs serving the Greater Cleveland community. More...

June Wellness Tip
As the burning rays of the sun descend on Greater Cleveland this summer, the fear of skin cancer rises. Although it is true that direct exposure for prolonged periods to the sun during the summer can be dangerous, skin cancer prevention is a year round concern. Exposure to dangerous UV rays can happen anytime of year, during cloudy weather or sunny. And tanning salons also expose their customers to UV light which can also be a cause of concern. Learn more about preventing, detecting and understanding skin cancer.

The Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland Road Rally and Car Show was Saturday, May 21, 2005 in the parking lot of the Nautica Entertainment Complex. Car enthusiasts and their families spent a beautiful day enjoying the classic and custom cars on display. Attendees juried entrants in ten different categories, with the highest honor of Best in Show being awarded to a black and white 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS 454. Other attendees participated in the Road Rally, which led them on an automotive scavenger hunt throughout Greater Cleveland. Proceeds from the Road Rally and Car Show benefit United Way of Greater Cleveland.
Check Community-Wide Needs for the greatest impact on our community
By designating Community-Wide Needs with your pledge, you authorize our trained volunteers to decide how your donations, and those of countless others, can target the greatest needs of our community. It might be to deliver meals to homebound seniors, train daycare providers to provide the best possible educational preparation for children or any of the nearly 180 programs provided by our community partners, or initiatives of the Community Vision Council. Here is how to pledge confidentially online.

We publish What Matters to keep you informed about events, activities and developments affecting United Way and the Greater Cleveland community.
