2004 Campaign Kick-off and Pancake Flip

United Way Services of Greater Cleveland's Campaign Kick-off and Pancake Flip is set for 7 - 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1 on the Southwest Quadrant of Public Square. Media personalities and community leaders will flip nearly 5,000 pancakes for the $3.99 breakfasts that include sausage, coffee and juice. Proceeds benefit United Way's nearly 200 programs at more than 130 partner agencies and the Community Vision Council partnerships for long-term community improvement.
At 8 a.m. United Way's 2004 campaign chair Charles A. Ratner, president and CEO of Forest City Enterprises, Inc., kicks off this year's campaign and will announce the goal. Joining Ratner will be Alexander "Sandy" Cutler, United Way of Greater Cleveland's board chair and Eaton Corporation chairman and CEO, and K. Michael Benz, president and CEO of United Way Services of Greater Cleveland.
Breakfast delivery, minus coffee, to DOWNTOWN locations can be arranged through advanced orders placed by 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, by calling (216) 436-2123 or faxed to (216) 436-2257. Minimum order for delivery is five breakfasts and the maximum order is 15 per time slot. Payment by cash or check must be made at the time of delivery. No credit cards may be used.
For those who come to Public Square, rain or shine, tables and chairs will be available in the large tent. The Wills and Coleman Show from Clear Channel Radio's WTAM 1100 will broadcast the morning show live, and the WDOK-Fifth Third Bank $102,000 Mega Money Machine will be on site.
To prepare for the more than 1,500 breakfasts United Way has increased this year's orders to 16 cases of batter, 35 cases of syrup cups, 20 cases of orange juice, 45 cases of sausages and 6 cases of butter.
