The Cleveland Indians and United Way Team Up to Bring Cleveland a Patriotic Fourth of July

    (Cleveland, Ohio) June 21, 2005
Fireworks. Baseball. Hot dogs. Giving back to others in our community. What could be a better, more patriotic and fun way to spend the Fourth of July?

On Monday, July 4th, the Cleveland Indians will play a split double header against the Detroit Tigers at Jacobs Field. For these two games, the Indians are seeking to fill the Field and help United Way with a series of special promotions including:

    • Discounted tickets: Lower reserve seats, which are normally $20, reduced to $13. Upper box seats are discounted from $18 to $11. Upper reserved seats, normally $10, discounted to $7. Tickets are available for both the 1:05 and 7:05 pm games (separate tickets needed for each game).
    • Fireworks after the 7:05 game. The All-American tradition! No blanket or lawn chair required!
    • Dollar hot dogs for both games. What is better than a ball park hot dog with all the fixins'? No charcoal or cleanup either!
    • A portion of all proceeds for tickets ordered through United Way goes to the United Way campaign.

Reacting to the news of this partnership, Mike Benz, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Cleveland said, "We are grateful to the Cleveland Indians for all that they do to support United Way. This is just another example of that generosity. For the public, this is an easy way to save money, have a great time and help over 400,000 fellow Greater Clevelanders that rely on United Way each year."

This special event is the first of its kind between the Cleveland Indians and United Way, but it is far from the first time the two organizations have worked together. This year the Cleveland Indians and individual players have raised thousands of dollars for United Way at the United Way Annual Sports Auction.

United Way is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing health and human services support. This is done through nearly 180 programs implemented in collaboration with 130 United Way partner agencies.

Fans can order discount tickets that benefit United Way by visiting the United Way website or by calling United Way and an order form can be mailed or faxed to fans.
