Center for Families and Children Get Supercharged by
United Way's Day of Caring Monday, August 29

    (Cleveland, Ohio) August 22, 2005

Each year United Way of Greater Cleveland coordinates thousands of area volunteers as they make a difference in our community by performing hands-on work at non-profit organizations around the region. Through "United Way's Days of Caring" program more than 300 Eaton Corporation employees will clean, paint and repair the Center for Families and Children (CFC) Midtown Human Services and Training Center at 4500 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland's Mid-Town Corridor over two days, August 29-30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the first year that the Center for Families and Children has hosted a Day of Caring while Eaton has a long-standing tradition of providing a Days of Caring crew.

Eaton employees are donating their time and another local company, Sherwin Williams is donating 100 gallons of paint for these special Days of Caring. "It means so much to us to have this work done and it makes such a difference. It is one meaningful way by which corporations show that they are part of the fabric of our community. Eaton is an outstanding example of that commitment to caring," Lee Fisher, the President and CEO of Center for Families and Children says.

The Center for Families and Children is dedicated to strengthening Cleveland by providing exceptional human services that foster hope, dignity and purpose in the lives of the children, families and individuals it serves. This is done through programs in the areas of behavioral health services, child care programs and community advocacy. United Way is one of the largest private funders of health and human services in Greater Cleveland and is a critical funder of the center. United Way is a leading convener, funding partnerships focused on solutions for Greater Cleveland's health and human service priorities.

"I take great pride in leading an outstanding group of civic minded individuals who are so dedicated to making a difference. It is through organizations like the Center for Families and Children and United Way that meaningful, fundamental and critical change happens for so many people," Alexander "Sandy" Cutler says. He will join his employees at the Center at a time to be determined. Mr. Cutler is the Chairman of United Way Board of Directors and the Chairman and CEO of Eaton Corporation.

United Way's Days of Caring gives volunteers the opportunity to donate a day of work at one of more than 130 United Way community partner sites. Volunteers can see firsthand how their United Way contributions impact the community and experience the rewards of giving their time and talent to those in need. Other United Way Days of Caring will be held on September 8 and 29, October 13 and 27 and November 10 this year. Last year, more than 2,700 volunteers from 70 local companies completed projects at 40 United Way community partner sites.

Coverage for this event can be at any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. To cover this event or for more information, please contact Maria Asher at Center for Families and Children or David Levey at United Way 216-436-2122 or dlevey@uws.org.
