New Directory Provides Valuable Information for Seniors
October 10, 2006 (Cleveland, Ohio)
A new directory published by United Way of Greater Cleveland's 211/First Call For Help offers a comprehensive guide to services available for seniors in Cuyahoga County. Senior Services Directory lists phone numbers of providers of health care, prescription discounts and drug plans, housing, home-delivered meals, home repair, housekeeping, legal and tax assistance, long-term care planning, insurance, transportation, utility assistance payment plans, volunteer opportunities, recreation and social programs and other support services for adults 60 and older. The directory is available free upon request to seniors from 211/First Call For Help by simply dialing 211 or 216-436-2000, 24 hours a day, any day of the week. The directory may be viewed online in "Publications" at www.211cleveland.org.
"In the ten years we've produced the Senior Services Directory, United Way has given out over 100,000 of these guides. We've seen a 20 percent increase in the number of persons over 60 needing help so far this year over the same period last year," said Stephen Wertheim, Director of United Way of Greater Cleveland's 211/First Call For Help program. "Seniors are particularly seeking assistance with food, health care, utilities and raising grandchildren."
