Cleveland United Way Staffer Receives National eWay Fellowship

      March 8, 2007 (Cleveland, Ohio)
Tom Battle, collections and campaign/pledge receivable manager at United Way of Greater Cleveland, is the only recipient in the nation to receive the 2007 United eWay Fellowship. United eWay is United Way's online campaign management software, which is used by United Ways nationally. Battle will participate in a specialized training and development program for three months, nine weeks of which will be spent at United eWay headquarters in New York, with the remaining three weeks commuting back to United Way of Greater Cleveland as needed to perform his regular duties. He began the fellowship program in New York on March 5, working on a customer service initiative to evaluate and improve United eWay administrative support sites.

"I was encouraged to apply for the fellowship by people at United eWay because of my involvement with an intra-agency committee working with the eWay software," Battle said. "The fellowship will give me greater experience, which I can bring back to help our operations at United Way of Greater Cleveland."

Battle has worked at United Way for eight years, where he began as collections technician in 1999. He was later promoted to collections/campaign manager, and in 2006, to his current position as collections and campaign/pledge receivable manager. Battle is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
