It's All Guitars! Auction at House of Blues
July 9, 2007 (Cleveland, Ohio)
Twenty-seven genuine FenderŽ StratocasterŽ guitars artistically transformed by local area high school and art school students will be put up for bid at a live auction at the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland on Saturday, July 28. It's all Guitars! is a special project of United Way's GuitarManiaŽ that introduces public art, guitars and community involvement to art students throughout Greater Cleveland by inviting them to creatively transform real Fender guitars into works of art just like the oversize, 9-foot-tall GuitarMania guitars currently displayed on city streets. More than 60 students painted, sculpted or decorated the guitars with designs submitted by their art instructors and accepted by GuitarMania's artist review panel. Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, a leading sponsor of GuitarMania, donated the guitars for this art-oriented, community service youth project.
It's all Guitars! auction proceeds will benefit United Way of Greater Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's education programs. The auction provides an opportunity to purchase one-of a-kind artistic creations while supporting health and human services and cultural programs for our community. The guitars are unique works of art that can be displayed or plugged in and played.
Admission is $10 and doors open at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served. To reserve tickets, RSVP to Jessica Snyder at 216-436-2123 or or jdsnyder@uws.org. more information about It's all Guitars!, visit http://www.cleveland.com/guitarmania/index.ssf?/guitarmania/itsallguitars.html.
