United Way 2007 Campaign Kickoff and Pancake Flip Annual Celebration Moves to New Location at Gateway Plaza
August 20, 2007 (Cleveland, Ohio)
Gateway Plaza will become "Pancake Plaza" for a day as United Way of Greater Cleveland kicks off its 2007 campaign in a new location on Friday, September 7, from 7 to 10 a.m, between Quicken Loans Arena and Jacobs Field. Local celebrities, business leaders and other volunteers will flip flapjacks and prepare delicious breakfasts for sale in a show of support to our community through United Way. At 8 a.m., United Way 2007 Campaign Co-Chairs Philip L. Rice, National City Bank President and CEO; and Paul Clark, National City Bank President, Northern Ohio Region, will announce the 2007 United Way Campaign goal.
"I don't think you can underestimate how vitally important United Way of Greater Cleveland is to our community," said Rice. "If you want to help the greatest number of people in this community, the most effective way to do so is by supporting United Way."
"Through numerous health and human service programs at its partner agencies, United Way is here for everyone who needs help in our community," added Clark. "That's why Phil and I couldn't be more honored to lead this year's campaign. Together, we can win."
The event's planners anticipate that more than 7,000 pancakes will be prepared and over 2,300 breakfasts will be served. A breakfast of pancakes, sausages, orange juice and coffee is only $5. In addition to the new location for the Campaign Kickoff/Pancake Flip this year on the Gateway Plaza quadrant between Quicken Loans Arena and Jacobs Field, curbside pickup service will be available on the North Roadway next to the plaza, between Ontario Street and East 6th Street, and can also be reached via Eagle Avenue. As in past years, deliveries will be made to downtown locations (minimum order: five breakfasts; maximum: 15) by faxing a downloadable form available online at uws.org/news/pancakeflip/flipfax.pdf or calling 216-436-2125 by 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 6.
WTAM 1100's morning radio show will broadcast live from the United Way of Greater Cleveland 2007 Campaign Kickoff and Pancake Flip event.
