It's All Guitars! Auction
Six-string works of art go on auction block January 19
January 8, 2008 (Cleveland, Ohio)
Twenty-seven authentic FenderŽ StratocasterŽ guitars artistically transformed by local area high school students will be put up for bid on ebayliveauctions.com and in a live auction at the Apple Tree Auction Center, 1616 West Church Street in Newark, Ohio on Saturday, January 19, at 12:30 p.m. The guitars were manufactured and creatively redesigned specifically for It's All Guitars!, a special project of United Way of Greater Cleveland's GuitarManiaŽ that introduced public art, guitars and community involvement to high school students throughout Greater Cleveland in 2007. More than 60 students transformed the Fender guitars into works of art just like the oversize, 9-foot-tall GuitarMania guitars displayed on city streets last year. The students painted, sculpted or decorated the guitars with designs submitted by their instructors. Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, a leading sponsor of GuitarMania, donated the guitars for this art-oriented community service youth project.
It's All Guitars! auction proceeds will benefit United Way of Greater Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's education programs. The auction provides an opportunity to purchase one-of a-kind artistic creations while supporting health and human services and cultural programs for our community. The guitars are works of art that can be displayed, and some can be plugged in and played. All the guitars come with Fender standard hardshell molded guitar cases and mini guitar stands.
